About Isak strand
Isak Strand vs TOE have made journey version 2.0 into the Swedish music scene. They’ve played and played and played. At the same time they’ve been active with their fans online and found a beautiful relationship with their listeners. This has led to them being called Swedens most famous unfamous band. A journey that continues in downwind. It’s groovy. -Every time you see them live you get that feeling; shit, what am I experiencing here? There just so much joy and energy in their music. And then there’s the groove. And what a groove there is. Isak Strand vs TOE is just one of those bands that you can’t put your finger on what their influences are. You could spot sounds from reggae, jazz, pop and hiphop. They are traveling in known waters, but the mix they do of genres, take the groove of one style, melodies from another and puls from the third. That sound is unique. In the fall of 2009 the four man band Isak Strand & the Resin band gave out their first album named ”You and Me and Yes You Two”. The album was recorded under special circumstances in a laundy room at Gärdet in Stockholm. Since then, their debut album has been streamed millions of times on Spotify all around the world. The next step was to record an EP. But all the pieces in the puzzle weren’t there yet. In the final process of recording “Stories of the Bronze Age” (2010) the guys brought in Filip Olandersson (Horn) and Johan Axelsson (Saxophone) and thereby added a horns section. They changed their name to Isak Strand vs TOE and the EP “Be All We Could” is the first record with all six current members. The wonders of music. A magical feature of it is that six people from different parts of Sweden, who individually has found a feeling of how they want to play music, meet up at a stage and create magic. On these moments they are without a doubt one of the best live acts in Sweden. In the summer of 2011 some new ideas started to form. The band decided to fle their sweaty basement studio in the city and rent a big house out in the woods. That was now home when not on the summer tour. -”That house really gave us a lot for the record. We were sitting around, jamming, trying to figure out in what direction we were headed. We shifted between that and picking blueberrys and playing football. At the same time, a documentary team followed the band and depicted their journey towards the new album in the documentary Medvind (Downvind). -”When the songs started to take shape, the idea of asking Swedens number one soul icon, Magnus Tingsek, to produce the album was born. This combination turned out briliant. Tingseks feel for dynamics, his vocals and his groove added pure magic to the songs.
