About Elephant Micah
Elephant Micah is the stage name of lo-fi/indie musician Joe O'Connell. O'Connell is a graduate of Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana. He has recorded for BlueSanct Records and Time-Lag Records. In addition, he has released work on his own LRRC (Luddite Rural Recording Cooperative), which has also released work from collaborators Justin Vollmar and Jason Henn. Elephant Micah has played with such artists as My Morning Jacket, The Decemberists, Magnolia Electric Co. Swearing at Motorists, Impossible Shapes, and Bobby Bare, Jr..
Elephant Micah commonly plays clubs and colleges around the midwest. He has toured Europe twice, once with Magnolia Electric Co. and once on his own. In July, 2006 he played a short Alaskan tour.
Micah contributed "Ohio River Boat Song" to I Am A Cold Rock. I Am Dull Grass., a tribute album to Will Oldham which also featured Calexico and Iron and Wine.
Joe O'Connell is a member of the group Honey Radar, along with collaborators Jason Henn, Ben Racher, and Will Rockwell. The band formed in early 2006.
