About Imperilment
Imperilment are a 5 piece metal band from Canberra, Australia. They have been working tirelessly over the last few years and have just released their EP titled ‘The Shift’ in early 2016, Which was recorded at Fretvision & Merloc studios in Canberra, and Mastered by Jochem Jacobs at Split Second Sound in Amsterdam. Their sound is based around melodic, progressive groove metal with vocals that range from aggressive screams to clean, skin tingling melodies much like Jesse Leech of Killswitch Engage. With fast passed, technical riffs and complicated yet groovy drum compositions, Imperilment have developed a voice of their own and really make their mark in the Australian metal community, Some comparing their sound to Karnivool, and others to Killswitch Engage. The band have just completed their Australian tour for their 5 track EP, 'The Shift', totalling 14 shows in the first 4 months of 2016, They will soon be releasing a video clip for their song Judas in which the footage was taken at their EP Launch in their hometown of Canberra. From May 2016 they are going to back off from the live shows to concentrate on writing new songs for another EP, and possibly releasing a single before the 2nd EP to keep the fans excited, All this by the end of 2016 and following this will be another tour of Australia. It has been a busy start of the year for Imperilment, and its only going to get busier once they start writing for their next release, which will be later in 2016, Times ahead are looking good for imperilment, with Writing, recording and touring Australia, so stay tuned. Reviews Taking the stage after this was Imperilment, a band I knew next to nothing about. Within the first song or two however, I was seriously impressed, a proggy metal band from Canberra it feels kind of difficult to describe their sound exactly. There were notable influences from Aussie heavyweights Cog and Karnivool, but at times I found myself being reminded of metalcore. There were breakdowns, solos and clean sections, all of which just made me wish I was a better guitarist than I am. The thing that stood out the most to me was their singer’s impressive range, not only could he move through registers with his clean vocals and screams, but changing between the two styles seemed effortless, a feat it takes most years to perfect. Novocastrian Music Reviews, The Seer Live Review,18/03/2016 Canberra based progressive melodic metal band.
