About Simon Ofori
At the age of 17 i started buying and playing records .. Soon i got in contact with Bart Ricardo, Who's now one of my best friends and monitor !
I met Bart and his girlfriend Sophia in a Belgian club called ' Decadance '..
I remember Phil Weeks was Djing that same night .
Bart had a smal recordshop in Bruges Belgium where i went to dig for records .. Found some good stuff there . Later i got to play some cool gigs and bars in Bruges City . Bart and Jensen where my major inspiration with the Chicago House scene => Fell in love right away !!
So i started clubbing for music more often in Belgium . In clubs like ( Decadance , Café D'anvers , H2O , Juice ,...) Where i made friends with Dj's Like Derrick carter , Paul Jonhson , Gene Farris , Dj Heather , Diz , Dj Sneak , Mark Farina , Tyree Cooper , Hector Moralez , Jt Donaldson ...
My spectrum and angle for Housemusic became bigger and bigger. So.. not much later i decided to fly to Chicago to buy more Wax/ vinyl. I wanted to be more involved in the music , especially Chicago House ! I ran in to Michael Serafini , the owner of Gramophone Records. He really guided me trough the hole house & Disco section of his shop . That opened my mind a lot.
So much names and collaborations i didn't know of ... So educational!!
I made friends for life in Chi-Town !
Also noticed that the scene for a DJ is NOT simple and not what u think , it's a hard world .
Now as for today i'm still collecting records , still trying to play as much as possible . Played at some cool parties alongside Dj's like
Lil ' Mark (UK) Brett Jonson (US) Slater Hogan & John Larner (US) .
Now starting to produce once a bit .. step by step .
Finding vintage gear , drumcomputer , synths .. still got to learn tough ... But i know i'm surrounded by people with knowledge and experience ...
That can get me to a higher level of being creative !
I know what i'm capable of doing , but it needs some time ...
know i still got some :)
Won't stop until something comes out of it , or travelled the whole world and visit every dance floor :D
Learn about other cultures , languages , foods and habits !
That's my Goal !
Love Peace and Housemusic
