Dan Burne

Dan Burne is a London-based guitarist, composer, sound engineer and music producer. Starting out as a self-taught electric guitarist playing in various styles (with session clients including Warner Brothers, Infrared Records and Goldie’s Metalheadz), in 2005 Dan caught the “modern fingerstyle” bug. Ever since, he has concentrated on coaxing a variety of sounds from acoustic guitars. This often involves alternative tunings, playing several independent parts simultaneously, and various percussive and harmonic techniques.

Dan’s soothing instrumental compositions favour musicality and emotive content, drawing on a wide range of influences to create something moving and atmospheric. His playing has attracted praise from audiences in a variety of venues and festivals in Europe (including Glastonbury), Thailand and Sri Lanka and the likes of Pierre Bensusan, Thomas Leeb and Martin Simpson.

Since 2008, Dan has attended four week-long residential workshops with some of the genre’s leading players, who also rank as some of his main influences: Andy McKee, Pierre Bensusan, Don Ross and Thomas Leeb. He has also attended and played at seminars/workshops by Tommy Emmanuel, Martin Simpson, Clive Carroll, Mike Dawes, Petteri Sariola, Chris Woods and Michael Watts.

He looking forward to releasing his debut solo instrumental album, with Declan Zapala and/or Ben Cartwright co-producing some of the tracks, in 2018 ... and to writing more about himself in the third person.
