TOOTH & TUSK

TOOTH & TUSK have been hitting the live scene since the beginning of last year with their post 70’s eclectic fuzz pop. With positive reviews of their 3 singles (all released over the past 6 months) rolling in far and wide; UK’s PressPlayOK describes their latest single as a “Winner all round,” and Drunken Werewolf “don’t think it’s scientifically possible to stand still to.” The band was originally the brainchild of Brendan West who had his start in Melbourne back in the mid naughties and has since established himself on the scene as one of Melbourne’s most sort after bassists/guitarists playing in bands such as Money for Rope, The Cherry Dolls, Wesley Fuller Band and Naked Bodies. It all came together for TOOTH & TUSK in mid 2014 when close friend and housemate Courtney Constantinou persuaded West to pursue the band despite some early challenges with band member lineup changes. West was sold on the idea as long as Constantinou agreed to join the band as a vocalist. Constantinou agreed and the next year saw the pair go strength to strength as songwriting partners and band leaders. They established a new lineup of members, wrote and demoed new material and began testing the waters with the band on stage. Constantinou and West build their songs around great hooks, rich harmonies and strong vocals with a certain rawness. The combination of fuzz guitars, synth and psychedelia mixed with Constantinou and West’s powerful yet soulful vocal deliveries, makes for an edge which defines the TOOTH & TUSK sound. At times disco fuelled and bass driven, their live set is diverse, energetic, captivating and fun. Earlier this year the band were hand picked to open for Gideon Benson of The Preatures for the Melbourne launch of his debut solo single, ‘Talk Talk,’ and after launching their own latest single ‘Never Going Back’ to packed audiences in Melbourne and Sydney, the band plan on using the rest of the year to record an album as well as expand on their following by playing more shows with bigger bands and to bigger crowds. toothtusk.bandcamp.com soundcloud.com/toothtusk toothtusk.com
