Shivan

Shivan were born in the 90's, from the idea of founder member Giovanni Landolina, as a band of friends in their twenties, with a great passion for gothic/black metal (very popular in these years). In 1997 the band recorded their first four track demo titled "Bitter As Gall" (in cassette tape); it got good reviews and allowed the band to perform their first live gigs in Veneto, Italy. "Whatever Lot's Above" their first full-length was released in 2002 for "Pulsar Light records". The songwriting was influenced by black/extreme metal while maintaining a decadent sound. In the following year singer Massimo "Beba" Buonerba and drummer Francesco Soccal joined the band. With this lineup Shivan completely left behind the extreme sounds to come closer to cadenced rhythms and gothic metal with influences like Paradise Lost, Anathema and Moonspell, but mixed with the anger of classic metal and dark/wave sounds. In 2007 the band released "When Wishes Sicken" under "My Kingdom Music", composed of 8 track and a remix, recorded at "Majestic Studios". In 2011 Shivan recorded a cover "Aurora B" original by Krisma (renowned new wave/elettronic band from Italy), that is included in the official tribute "Chybernation". In the meantime, bass player Elia Dalla Pola joined the band. Now after years of inactivity Shivan are back with their new album "Necessary Illusions" recorded by Rossano Palù (Db Boulevard/La Fuertezza) which brings an even more decadent and angry sound. The band explores the past and the lives of each member with their emotions, fears, aspirations, but always looking forward in a continuous contrasts.
