About Stoll Vaughan

Stoll Vaughan has made a name for himself as a reputable, young songwriter. With an expressive rustic style, profound lyrics, and a resonant voice, Vaughan’s identity is carried by a timeless authenticity all his own. Born in Kentucky, his music embraces his own style, although he has been favorably compared to the likes of early Springsteen and Townes Van Zandt.

After the release of his first record “Hold on Through Sleep and Dreams” in 2005, Vaughan gained national recognition through air play on the AAA and Americana Radio formats. Garnering a spot on Americana Radio’s Top Ten Chart, he was also highlighted as a guest on “Billy Block’s Western Beat,” “WFPK’s Live Lunch,” and “Woodsongs Old Time Radio Hour.” The album was also named Performing Song Writer Magazine’s DYI top twelve records of 2005. Independently released, “Hold on Through Sleep and Dreams” has sold over 5,000 copies; receiving rave reviews, radio airplay, and a notable reputation for Vaughan as a legitimate up and coming talent.

After touring America’s Southeast and Midwest, Vaughan was invited to Europe where he opened an eight-week long tour for Urge Overkill. Gaining international recognition, “Hold on Through Sleep and Dreams” was named one of The Netherlands’s “Alternative Country’s Top Ten Records of the Year.” In the summer of 2005, Stoll Vaughan acquired a coveted spot on the “Word’s and Music Tour,” opening forty four dates for music legends John Fogerty and John Mellencamp.

Vaughan’s sophomore album, expected to release in August 2006, presents a more confident and developed artist. It does not stray from his soulful style or distinct sound; it embraces it with passion and energy. There is, however, a definitive difference in the collective mood of the album. Produced by Mike Wanchic (James McMurtry, Mellencamp, Dylan), and backed by a stellar supporting ensemble: Carl Breomel and Bo Koster (My Morning Jacket), Jake Smith (Mysteries of Life), Devon Ashley (Over the Rhine) and Dane Clark (Mellencamp and Donovan), reveals new depth, more sophisticated compositions, and a more upbeat, soulful essence. It is a progressive musical statement that instills Stoll Vaughan’s future as a songwriter.
