The Exide

The Exide was born out of hazy late night song writing sessions in a basement studio in Toronto, Ontario centered around the song-writing team of Matt Snell and Adam Helfand-Green. Beginning in 2011, the two worked for years to craft and perfect a collection of genre-defying songs. After playing demos to friends and family and receiving much encouragement, the Exide was expanded through the addition of some incredible musicians, forming a truly unique musical experience. Kyle 'K-Notes' Smith (Keys), Campbell Sanderson (Bass), Conor McSweeny (Lead Guitar) and Jesse Walker (Drums) moved the Exide out of the basement and on to the stage. Exide music combines catchy melodies and eerie lyrics, unique song-writing and guitar playing, Matt's innovative and experimental production style, heavily influenced by psychedelia, and topped off by a superb rhythm section. The Exide released their first EP, Locks and Keys, in Feb. 2014, to a overcapacity, sold out release show at Toronto's Cameron House. Recording for the album was completed in Matt's basement studio along with drums and organs recorded at the legendary Phase One Studios in Toronto. Producer and Engineer, Matt Snell worked hard in post-production to turn rough songs into radio-ready hits. Finally, longtime friend Lulu Leung, created the artwork.
