About Thinktank

Think Tank

Growing up in Minneapolis with pal Kurt Harland, he decided to start up a small synth-pop band known then as "The Information Society" with Monat Konar and Harland. After redoing their original version of "Running" with new vocals by Harland, it became an overnight hit all over the US both in clubs and the radio.

Aside from producing Information Society material, he went on to produce and remix many Latin House and synth-pop albums for TKA, Red Flag, Anything Box and T42.

Several years of hit and miss InSoc success, Paul Robb left the group after their third album's lackluster sales.

Robb went on to produce albums for Dissonance and his alias Think Tank on his short-lived label Hakatak.

Robb continues producing albums for other artists and his side project with vocalist Barbara Cohen as Brother Sun Sister Moon / Luminous as well as producing music for television and commercials for which he has received (currently) two Clio awards.

Thinktank from Adelaide, South Australia, have always been about combining the art of songwriting with the pure emotion and energy of life. And coming out with a positive, life-is-good kind of result.

The band came together as a result of each of its members wanting to create something new in a sometimes passionless and stagnant music scene. With a predilection for angular guitaring, left-of-centre drum rhythms and killer melodies, the band have honed their craft over time earning a solid reputation for their song work. Whether it's on their recordings or in the live arena, the passion of this band is always striking.

It only took attendance at one show in Sydney to convince Household Name Records to release them in the UK and Europe. The band is constantly on the road in their homeland and made their first tour of the UK in March 2003.

Thinktank frontman Darren Thompson is highly sought after in Australia for his ingenuity behind the recording desk. A fact that becomes apparent on listening to this self-produced album. With the luxury of knowing exactly how it should sound, they have well and truly achieved their desired aim.

Thinktank released one further album in Australia, but stopped playing shows in 2004.

Within a year, Cam, Kev and Jeremy all got married. They're all very happy.

Kev moved to Melbourne. He's a groundskeeper and blissfully in love with the girl of his dreams.
Dan lives in Sydney making movies look rad.
Cam plays basketball with a clear conscience.
Shane plays in the world's favourite new band Tiger Stripes, and makes sure the kids party right.
Jeremy plays in the Sundance Kids and still rocks out with Sal Paradise from time to time.
Darren continues to make amazing music that will one day see the light of day. He spends a great deal of time in the studio making people sound good. He's also spending more time on his facial hair.

Thinktank periodically gets together again to play golf. Darren always wins.
