About Red Shaydez
Red Shaydez: The Visionary Behind the Shaydez
Some artists make music—Red Shaydez builds worlds. A Boston-based hip-hop powerhouse with deep roots in Macon, GA, and Jamaica, she is more than just a rapper; she is an educator, business strategist, curator, mentor, and cultural architect shaping the future of independent artistry.
From commanding stages at A3C Hip Hop Festival, BAMS Fest, and Fenway Porchfest, to curating her own Aura Takeover festival and leading a statewide Teen Music Maker Showdown with the Boston Public Library, Red Shaydez is constantly creating spaces for artists to thrive. Her ability to merge artistry with strategy makes her an invaluable force in the music industry, offering 1:1 consultations, album rollout strategies, and business development guidance for independent musicians and arts organizations.
Her influence reaches far beyond the mic. As an educator, she currently teaches an MIT Hip-Hop collaboration course, bringing academic insight to the culture and bridging the gap between innovation and tradition. She has also spoken at prestigious institutions like Harvard University, Berklee College of Music, and Northeastern University, sharing her expertise on self-sufficiency in the industry.
With a career that began with a co-sign from the legendary MC Lyte, Red Shaydez has since become a Boston Music Award-winning artist and a Recording Academy voting member. She’s earned national recognition from MTV, BET Jams, NPR Music, Boston 25 News, and The Boston Globe, and in 2023-2024, she took her presence to new heights by starring in a Boston Celtics commercial, solidifying her as a hometown hero.
Her film and visual work have also gained acclaim, with her music video/mini-film “Little Sabrina” being selected for the 2020 Roxbury International Film Festival. Impressively, her entire career—from music production to video direction, street marketing to beat selection—is completely self-made, self-funded, and Shaydez-approved.
Now, she’s sharing her knowledge with the next wave of artists through "MusicJumpstart," her first-ever artist development bootcamp launching in Spring 2025. This program is designed to equip emerging artists with the tools, strategies, and confidence to navigate the industry independently.
Red Shaydez isn’t just an artist—she’s a movement. A visionary. A mentor. A curator of experiences. Whether through music, education, or business, one thing is certain: her aura is undeniable, and the world is finally catching up to her vision.
