DJ Ikaika

Pronounced (ee-KIE-kah). Born in Hawaii, grew up in Chicago, and relocated to Las Vegas in 2010. I started DJing in the mid-80's; influenced by the birth of House Music and DJ culture in Chicago as well as East Coast Hip Hop turntablist/DJ godfathers. My first club residencies were in Waikiki, Hawaii right out of high school in the late 80’s and my mixes were featured weekly on local radio. I was actually one of the first DJ’s to play House music in Hawaii clubs. Moved back to Chicago in the early 90's and competed & placed top 10 in a regional DMC DJ battle, weekly live guest mixes featured on college radio (WNUR & WUIC), weekly internet radio residency (Bassdrive.com), resident with Sit N Spin Productions Chicago, played a number of local & national raves, underground parties, & club events alongside notably talented artists such as Bad Boy Bill, Derrick Carter, LTJ Bukem & MC Conrad, and the Invisibl Skratch Piklz to name a few. After taking a few years off, my primary focus is House music in the Chicago, Deep, Funky, Acid, Jazzy, Soulful vein. Currently I'm a resident for Downtown Soul every Thursday night at Downtown Cocktail Room, Unassociated Las Vegas monthly events at Millennium Fandom Bar, Club 27 Las Vegas bi-monthly events at Artisan Hotel, and affiliated with Undaground Elements Chicago and LTL Entertainment Las Vegas. I've been doing this for over 30 years... I appreciate ALL genres of music, but focusing on what moves me & motivates me the most...
