About Donatella Rettore
Donatella Rettore (Castelfranco Veneto, Italy, 8th July 1955) is an italian singer and songwriter. After moving to Rome, during the year 1974 she has her debut at the "Festival di Sanremo", the national festival of italian music. In 1976 she releases her first success, the single "Lailolà" that sells more than 5 million copies in Italy and abroad countries (especially Switzerland and Germany). The year after she is back to the "Festival di Sanremo" but as the first time, her appearance brings no glory and her first two albums don't get a good response.
In 1978 Donatella Rettore decides to turn her name simply into "Rettore", her looks changes as well as the style of her music, now closer to the rock. The year after she reachs a great popularity with the album "Brivido Divino" that includes one of her greatest success, the song "Splendido Splendente", that is actually considered one of the greatest hits of italian music. In 1980 she releases another single of great success, "Kobra", placing second in another famous italian competition, "Festivalbar" (which features international artists). The year after, her new single "Donatella" hits the dancefloors and grants her the victory of "Festivalbar".
These years are the top of Rettore's career: sir Elton John writes three songs for her ("Remember", "This time", Sweetheart on parade") and plays a part in the movie "Cicciabomba" that features Anita Ekberg.
From the year 1985 her success began to fade, in therms of sellings, even if the quality of her production is remarkable and only in the latest years has been recognized.
In 1994 she regains popularity with the single "Di notte specialmente", presented at the "Festival di Sanremo". The album "Incantesimi notturni" also has an average success.
During the 2004 she regains popularity again, starring as guest in the popular italian version of "Big Brother" tv show and then competing into another tv show, the music reality "La Fattoria"
2005 is the year of her next new album titled "Figurine"
