About Little Raven
Little Raven was formed in 2014 by vocalist/guitarist Rafael Green, bassist Keenan-Keaton Payne and drummer Kyle Edmonston. All three graduated from Berklee College of Music '13. In 2018, they added keyboardist/vocalist Brad Owens, Belmont University alum.
All coming from different locations -- Rafael from Europe and Tuscon, AZ, Keenan from Los Angeles, CA, Kyle from Atlanta, GA, and Brad from Cary, NC -- the fantastic four wanted to create music in Nashville, TN, that breaks traditional molds in genres and engages active listeners wanting to move. After graduating from Berklee College of Music in 2013, Rafael moved to Nashville to collaborate on a new project with college friend Keenan and they began practicing material late at night in Keenan’s room between indie horror film marathons and long fire pit talks. They then found Kyle who was hooked after hearing their demos. Within weeks he was ferried down country roads, over the lush green hills and past the galloping horses to Little Raven’s first rehearsal (like poetry), during which Kyle stomped the floor with his Chuck Taylors in lieu of a kick pedal (thus the nickname Thunderfoot...but don't call him that, he hates that). The three quickly bonded over their shared influences of Radiohead, The Mars Volta, Incubus, Jeff Buckley, and music that induces existential self-reflection, and concocted their sound of haunting tenor vocals and unique troubadour guitar picking, catchy bass grooves, and tight signature drum beats. But they knew there was still a certain something they were missing... enter Brad Owens. With an equal ear for unique music and sounds, Brad intensified and colored Little Raven's music further with his vibrant piano/synth work and Freddie Mercury-like vocals. And they all rejoiced.
During their time in Nashville, they've had the pleasure of playing Exit/In, The Basement and Basement East, Mercy Lounge and High Watt, The 5 Spot, and at Kimbro's Pickin' Parlor opening for TV Tramps (former members of Ween), where they also host their popular annual events Quoth The Raven Halloween and Mardi Gras Masquerade.
When he’s not composing or playing his six string, Rafael enjoys painting, history books, and rainstorms.
Aside from music, Keenan likes to sketch Dali-style illustrations, drink loads of chai tea, and critically seek out every horror movie known to man.
Other than playing drums, Kyle likes to read, run marathons, and indulge his late-night Cookout cravings.
Brad is a bit more sophisticated than the rest, spending his leisurely hours playing Ocarina of Time melodies on piano, drawing illustrations that Stan Lee would pay for, and is currently writing an original fantasy novel.
