About nosnow/noalps

A little bit punk, a little bit indie, a dash of ska and reggae and a whole lot of rock; that, along with a sprinkling of pop is essentially the recipe for the music that nosnow/noalps have been making for the past decade. Formed in 2007, the band initially developed its versatile sound through a number of gigs before eventually releasing the impressive and wittily-titled debut EP, (just rock) the following year. The radio singles released off this EP, namely the BMA-nominated Taking my time, MMA-nominated Headset and Dig Into, the latter adopted by the local MTV mobile network for their advertising campaign, effectively propelled the band beyond the indie circuit and into the mainstream orbit. All of this, along with the fact that the singles had received a significant amount of radio airplay and the EP voted Best of the Year in Toni Sant's Muzika Mod Iehor annual listeners' poll, firmly established nosnow/noalps as one of the main contenders in the Maltese music scene. In 2010 the band entered Temple Studios to record their debut album, RomantikPolitik with award-winning David Vella (of Beangrowers, Rammstein and Phillip Boa & the Voodoo Club fame) in charge of production. The album's launch gig, in April 2011, was sold-out; a sure sign that the band's music was being embraced by a larger audience. The album, which was also very positively received by local critics, yielded several radio singles, all of which made it to the upper reaches of the local charts. Far into the night (without you) in particular, was #1 for three weeks. The year ended with more highs as the band won two of the Malta Music Awards' categories, namely Best Image and Best CD Artwork. Boosted by all of this, nosnow/noalps shifted their focus on the live circuit, giving blistering performances at various local venues and festivals, among them the Farsons Great Beer Festival, Isle of MTV's Music Week and the Bay Music and Malta Music awards nights. Malta however, was only the tip of the iceberg, as the band flew to Europe, gigging extensively across the continent, playing major cities such as Paris, Milan, Copenhagen, Linz and London. Parts of this tour were also filmed and broadcast on the local TV show Bands on the Run. April 2013 marked the start of a new chapter in the band's journey. Moving to Copenhagen in Denmark with an all-new line up, nosnow/noalps wrote and released a new single. N.E.W. was released in November that year on the popular Rolling Stone.it website, and followed by a tour that took in Copenhagen, London and a number of Italian cities. The exposure brought in more significant opportunities, including interviews on well-known Italian stations RAIradio and RTL. Hot off the tour, the band went straight into writing new material, the resulting six songs making up the bulk of the Go Go Go Go EP that was eventually released in the summer of 2014. That year also saw them support British band Dry The River and, in December, give three performances at the popular Teatru Unpluged at the Manoel Theatre. Crowning their 2014 activity, the song Disappear off the Go Go Go Go EP topped the local charts. The summer of 2016 saw nosnow/noalps consolidate their growing popularity on the international circuit, playing a number of acclaimed festivals in Europe, among them Denmark's annual Nakskov Festival and the Clear Mountain Festival In Italy. One of the Maltese music scene's more experienced and established ambassadors, nosnow/noalps have successfully established themselves as prime movers, choosing to lead rather than follow. Their tenth anniversary celebration is a major milestone for the band without a doubt, but more importantly, it is the start of a new chapter, new challenges that the band will surely look forward to. nosnow/noalps (written in lowercase without any spaces) is Nick Morales, Bertram Cachia, Benji Cachia, Sarah Falzon and Leona Farrugia. http://www.nosnownoalps.com
