About Intervention
The turn of the decade saw the regeneration of emotionally driven, partially poppy style of punk that had seen its heyday in the mid-nineties. However, as 2012 faded into 2013, and as 2013 began to draw to a close, the recently refurbished genre had already began to stagnate; rapidly approaching a brick wall with slashed brake lines, an intervention was needed—and an Intervention is exactly what happened. Hailing from the sunny shores of Florida, Intervention is a band who combine jarring, heart-wrenching honesty with colorful, vibrant instrumentation that jumps out at the listener, ensnaring them with life and weaving tales of woe and wonder into their ears. By doing away with tired, over-done stories of love and loss and letting loose with pure, naïve honesty, Intervention discard regurgitated emo-turned-pop-punk dynamics for a refreshing take on a genre that desperately needed new life.
Born by the creative geniuses of Nick Sadler and Drew Portalatin, Intervention released their debut EP, I’m No Good on May 20th in the late spring of 2014. I’m No Good briefly but brilliantly painted a perfect picture of Intervention’s honest artistry: combining bouncy, head-bobbing rhythms as a frame for heart-rending, honest (yet occasionally tongue-in-cheek) lyricism, Intervention crafted a touching, but fun release that hangs heavy around the listener’s neck, yet is still a crisp and light-hearted listen. Refusing to let the success of their debut release breed creative lethargy, they kept on doing what they do best: writing. Constantly creating immersive and intriguing new music, Intervention worked through the summer of 2014 while maintaining a rigorous schedule of live performances, gaining notoriety and a following in the bustling Floridian music scene. With more music and more shows to come as 2014 comes to a close and 2015 rears its head, Intervention’s presence in the American emotional music scene will not just survive, but rather, thrive, pumping fresh, honest blood into a scene with an arrhythmic heartbeat.
