About Crater Music

It all began for Dave being the last child out of 5 to be left at the parents crib by himself. There wasn't a whole lot to do and his friends were at least 5 miles away, often times a bit too far for a bike ride after football practice. He was forced to preoccupy himself and the guitar became his attention and focus.

As he sharpened his skill level enough to play in his first band, Opprobrium (Jeff Bell, Joel Miller, Chris Tyra and Eric Burmeister, while attending Western Michigan in '93) he truly believed he was already a rock star.

As young bands do, the band split as Dave introduced his drummer, Jeff Bell, to two talented musicians, Mike Davis and Jason Hargreaves - that became a Gordian Knot. Dave mentions, "We had experimented will all forms of music and wrapped it all up...not a lot of people might have appreciated it, but we sure did. Wow was that fun."

The last years of college, Dave hooked up with Jeff Bell once again and a rising talented songwriter, John Sanger and seasoned bass player Dennis Lee. This became, Ellis Island.

As the bands individual songwriting ability grew to a much higher level, Dave began working again with Mike Davis, who was able to co-write, engineer and produce some great material. They formed Glass Rembrandt along with Brian James and Tim Ross. This band played shows all over the great State of Michigan.

Dave moved Traverse City, Michigan in 2004 where he started, Full Kast with pal, Chris Steffke. The harmonious duet took on musicians quickly that consisted of Paul Conant, Andre Kuschell and Cris Pico. SoulKast was born and is presently performing.

"Steffke and I had a great time doing more intimate venues and songs. We are still performing as Twice Over as an acoustic duet." Crater adds.

Dave is also writing solo and getting help from his friends at Spiral Sound, specifically, Aaron Wolinski who is a creative magnifier. The new hit track, Several Reasons" was recorded there. He is having a great time and loving the rewards that music brings.

Songs ideas visit me almost everyday! What a blessing to be able to receive this gift.
