About Ambassadors Of Harmony

The Ambassadors of Harmony, based in the St. Louis metropolitan area, is an award-winning men's chorus of about 135 singers known for powerful and musically masterful performances. The Ambassadors of Harmony's diverse repertoire encompasses Broadway classics, barbershop, jazz, pop, and wide selection of holiday favorites. The non-profit, all-volunteer chorus was founded in 1963 and is co-directed by Jim Henry, head of choral studies at the University of Missouri-St. Louis and Jonny Moroni, baritone of the 2006 BHS International Champion quartet, Vocal Spectrum. Master arranger David Wright serves as associate director and provides the chorus' musical vision. Under their direction, the chorus has won three gold medals in the Barbershop Harmony Society's international contest, most recently in 2016 in Nashville, Tenn. The Ambassadors have sung for audiences across the United States and have also performed in England, Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands and Sweden. The goal of the Ambassadors of Harmony is to achieve excellence by delivering powerful enough musical performances to touch hearts, minds and change the lives of the people in the audience. The Huffington Post described the Ambassadors of Harmony's "gob-smacking wonderful" showmanship as "excellence that deserves attention" fueled by the "deep pleasure that the performers themselves are clearly getting from it." Professionally, the Ambassadors of Harmony chorus is the St. Charles, Missouri, chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society. None of the 26 men who convened for the first time in January 1963 to form what was originally called The Daniel Boone Chorus could have envisioned the chorus' future success: growing to 160 singers, winning two international chorus competitions and moving audiences to tears and joy with its music. The Ambassadors of Harmony's most recent recordings are SOMEWHERE (2013), WELCOME CHRISTMAS! (2011), OH WHAT A DAY! (2009), HOLIDAYS IN GOLD (2004), APPLAUSE (2003) and SING, SING SING! (1999). All recordings are for sale online and after live performances. The Ambassadors have finished in the top four choruses more than a dozen times since it began performing in international contests in 1989. The annual competition is held by the Barbershop Harmony Society, an organization of about 30,000 singers in more than 800 chapters in North America. 2016 BHS international gold medalist chorus 2004, 2009, 2012 & 2016 chorus champions Contact: 636-395-0150 Email: ambofharmony@gmail.com
