Funkystep & the Sey Sisters

FUNKYSTEP started in 2006 as a septet with the objective of paying tribute to the big names of Black Music and started to tour across all the catalan geography, standing out their show at the Voll Damm Festival de Jazz in Vic. In 2009 Kathy & Yolanda Sey, the 2 sisters of the original singer Edna Sey, joined the band, re-naming it to FUNKYSTEP & THE SEY SISTERS and offering a show more focused on vocals, with a very extroverted and expansive choreographies, and a Soul, Groove & Funk repertoire. In 2012 they record their first EP in this format and continue touring around city parties, Festivals and clubs, increasing their number of followers wherever they go, highlighting their shows at Poble Espanyol and Luz de Gas in Barcelona, Black Music Festival in Girona, Jazzhivern in Andorra and bringing their show out of Catalonia, specifically to Madrid and Toledo.
Through the years, the project matured and in 2015 they decided to embrace the adventure of composing and recording a record with their own compositions, and after many rehearsals and a heavy work they went into Sol de Sants Studio to record their first album under the artistic direction of Mike Mariconda and Marc Tena, two Black Music experts. The result is a 13 well produced tunes, with a positive message lyrics and a very accurate production, an eclectic record in which you can listen to many different black music genres. “A MATTER OF FUNK” (RGB suports 2016) will hit the market in September 2016 and will be launched in the Mercat de Musica Viva in Vic (Live Music Market).
So, FUNKYSTEP & THE SEY SISTERS set forth on this new challenge through their long career with more power and thrill than ever, with the aim to let them lead to conquer new territories, new audiences and be part of the program of the best Festivals and events all over.
