The Bystander Effect

At the end of 2015, Beth asked her co-worker Jason for his opinion on a song she was working on. His first response was, “You need a band, don’t you?” That was all it took to put the wheels in motion for the creation of The Bystander Effect. Jason recruited Drew, another co-worker, and the three got to work on discovering who they are as a band.

The trio began by playing music from all different genres in an effort to fine tune their sound, but it didn’t take long to realize that all three have an overdeveloped affinity for anything bluesy. The Bystander Effect successfully combines the best sounds from artists like Jimi Hendrix, Sara Bareilles, John Mayer, Ray Charles, and Eric Clapton with male and female vocal runs reminiscent of Stevie Wonder, Justin Timberlake, Ariana Grande, and Christina Aguilera to create an innovative blues sound accompanied by lyrics that you will think are about you. (Let’s face it… they probably are.)

The Bystander Effect will be releasing their first EP in the Spring of 2017.
