About Jahcoozi

Hailing from the Berlin club scene, Jahcoozi is a bass heavy trio consisting of London-born Sri Lankan front woman Sasha Perera, and producers / multi-instrumentalists: Robot Koch, the hardcore Berliner and Israeli born Oren Gerlitz. After meeting in Berlin in 2002, their story of coming up in the ranks reads like a musician's wet dream: Having built up a solid fan-base with their freaky underground shows, they released their debut single entitled Fish in 2003 (WMF Records) which did in fact earn them no less than a spotlight on the cult BBC show of the late John Peel. After being snapped up by Kitty-Yo, the Berlin based mother label of Peaches, 2005 finally saw the unleashing of their long-awaited full length debut record entitled " Pure Breed Mongrel" to critical acclaim.

NOW they are back with their sophomore LP entitled Blitz N Ass. This time they are on a mission to raise the bar on intelligent booty music and to help put BLN firmly on the map as a stronghold for innovative club music that isn't just techno....watch out LDN!! Blitz N Ass is a low-end grime-tech-dub-rave-tronic monster that effortlessly boils down these infinite shades of electronica into an irresistible blend of pop. The production is both R&B thick and technoid perfection, the songwriting well into its maturity and Sasha Perera’s social commentary as personal and satirical as ever.

Sasha Perera: “ Blitz N Ass points a playful finger at Tits n Ass. It isn't just the glamour n glitz n gloss or the mind-numbing plastic that the media dishes out, we add our very own dose of Blitz. Blitz being the Teutonic, electronic side of our sound: it's technoid, it's dark, deep and industrial . The Ass on the other hand is the booty side of what we do: it's organic and plastic, hysterical, ironic, syncopated, and sometimes even offbeat. It's real, it's live and it's shakin!! Satirical contrasts are inherent to Blitz N Ass, both musically and content-wise. ”

The production on Blitz N Ass remains in-house with Robot Koch and Oren Gerlitz swapping instruments and taking turns behind the boards, which despite the versatility of the record gives the album a coherence and feel that only well seasoned bands manage to achieve. Lyrically Blitz N Ass is all Sasha Perera, the only guest appearances are that of two hip hop experimentalist heavyweights: Sayid (Ex-Antipop Consortium, Airborne Audio) and longtime collaborator RQM (Al Haca, The Tape).

Club bangers such as BLN (already featured as the opener on the last Bpitch Control compilation) or, Disposable feat. Stereotyp will rock just about any dancefloor, keeping the djs grinning and them booties shakin’, whilst darker club junkies will get their dose with GetYoShitOut or the dubstep influenced Takin’ Your Street. Songs such as Hands In Ya Pockets or Flatline offer a healthy dose of Jahcoozi’s own brand of pop which is bound to get them heavy rotation on the radio. Of course there cannot be a Jahcoozi record without a little bit of controversy – listen to the pro-gay tolerance dub-crunk anthem Rainbow Coloured Rizzla… Blitz N Ass N that’s why we love them.
