About El Terrible

"It don't get spicy enough for El Terrible," which is the nickname given to Terry Ashkinos of Fake Your Own Death when he was working as a short order cook in a Los Angeles Sizzler. Hailing from San Francisco, the music of El Terrible started as a solo project in a small apartment above a bar during an extended stay in Berlin where Terry was sent by the US government to study the fall of communism. What came out of that time is a very personal collection of sparse, dark, catchy and literary songs. El Terrible have been tearing up local and national bills over the last year opening for bands like Blood Red Shoes, !!!, and The Weekend. The band is both soulful and dynamic, wrought with post-punk urgency. They have since gone back to being Fake Your Own Death but this solo record, What Rough Beast, is available all over the internet. SF Chronicle: "Great gothic 80s inspired rock with dark baritone vocals. El Terrible's music is dense indie rock that reminds us that rock is supposed to be dangerous." Gorilla in a man suit.
