Graeme Connors

The consumate story teller! Over 50 years of song writing, touring, albums and acute observation of every day people transmuted into song,. Two and a half hours with Graeme Connors is never enough and, from the myriad of requests called out throughout the night, his threat that he would still be on stage until 3 am would have been happily embraced by the packed out crowd. Although North was the focus, as the break through album, the playlist was truly Lawson-esque in the vignettes, experiences and observations of Australians turned into amazing songs. Yes, we sang along. Yes we cheered the blistering banjo and mandolin solos. Yes, we listened, rapt, to the stories behind the songs and, yes, we knew every word to every song. All the best songs- Canefields, North, Tropicali, Cyclone, riotous Big Jimmy and a haunting solo acoustic Ringer and the Princess to close off the show. Superb backing musos, especially when the playlist was all mixed up on whim or audience request and, as ever, Graeme was generous with his time at the merch stand, spending another hour or more signing CDs and his book, 'My Lyrical Life', selfies and chatting with fans. To steal a line to descibe any attendance at a Graeme Connirs show: "being here is what it's all about"

We had a great night! Graeme is a mighty storyteller and the band was the perfect support. We dined at the uni pub, then coffee at the theatre. Everything was well organised and accessible, particularly for vision impaired, they were very kind. Thank you Graeme for the best night.

What a fantastic night of true Aussie entertainment. We wish we could see more of Graeme around Sydney.Thanks to Giant Dwarf for hosting Graeme. We first had the opportunity to hear Graeme perform around 25 years ago on Norfolk Island and have been fans ever since.
