Radiant Reveries

Radiant Reveries is the project of couple Adam and Karolina Wallace. Founded in New York City in 2012 and currently based in Los Angeles, the band features the songwriting talents of both artists, traversing sounds from psychedelic choir to sleek rock ’n roll. In 2016, Radiant Reveries released their first full-length album, Rise, a fluid, folk-inspired record centering themes of paradox as well as community, coexistence, and the resilience of the human spirit.

Playing a range of DIY shows and gigs in clubs around New York City allowed the band to “carve out an elevated and more powerful live sound that is directly felt in the new album,” says Adam, the dreamily loose energy felt in Rise solidifying into something tighter, as evidenced by “Missing,” the leading single from Radiant Reveries’ forthcoming sophomore album.

About Adam & Karolina:

Adam and Karolina Wallace are multidisciplinary artists whose talents span a variety of performing and visual art forms. Within Radiant Reveries, Adam sings and plays guitar, and Karolina sings and plays guitar and percussion (tom drum, tambourine, glockenspiel).

Adam’s early life saw him transported from New Jersey to Indiana, Nebraska, Michigan, Oregon, Idaho, and Ohio. Following a brief stint playing baseball at the University of Toledo, Adam was introduced to the modeling world in Detroit, which subsequently whisked him off to Paris and New York City.

While living in NYC, around the neighborhoods of Murray Hill, Alphabet City, and Williamsburg, poetry arose as a substantial part of young Adam’s life. It was also around this time, in 2002, that he initially met Karolina, though they would not become romantically attached until later, eventually becoming engaged in 2009 and married in 2011.

After a while, Adam left New York for Seattle, where he began playing guitar, writing songs, and engaging with photography, filmmaking, and art at large. He put on some of his first photo exhibitions in warehouses and galleries around Seattle before moving back to New York, where he showed more visual work at galleries in Manhattan and Brooklyn and organized live music shows with friends, playing solo sets prior to forming Radiant Reveries.

Karolina was born in Poland (then the communist Polish People’s Republic) and raised in Hamburg, Germany. From an early age, Karolina demonstrated an aptitude for entertaining as she sang, danced, wrote, and acted to amuse her family, and at 10 years old, she began modeling for clothing catalogues. By 11, Karolina was signed to Elite Model Management, and at the age of 14, she was approached by a talent manager who led her to take singing lessons and record her first demos, covering songs by Madonna and Paula Abdul.

Pursuing a career in pop music wasn’t what Karolina wanted, however. Instead, she chose to continue with modeling, working internationally from the age of 15, and in 2007, she signed her first lease in NYC and began acting training.

“My desire to do more kept fueling me,” says Karolina. “I always wanted to play instruments, especially the guitar.” A few years after moving to New York, she would get her wish after discovering a beautiful Guild acoustic on sale at the Lower East Side’s Rivington Guitars. From there, having already been in the practice of writing poetry, songs emerged naturally.
