About Mataji Booker Music
Describing herself as an 'acoustic-folk-soul artist with jazzy tendencies', Mataji Booker combines classical guitar rhythms with a passion for story-telling and folk-soul blues. On stage she takes you in like an old friend at a dinner party - her songs crafted like a warm meal served up with a generous vulnerability. A native of Los Angeles, CA, her unique brand of folk-soul music has taken her as far away as Bracelona, Japan and most notably performing on Maurizio Costanzo's popular Sky Network's talk show 'Stella' in Rome, Italy. In 2014 she invited her former band mate Luca Romano to join her on her first indie-tour traveling up the coast from California to Seattle and back. From there she enjoyed a two and half year monthly residency at the Left Coast Wine Bar (now called The Oak and Vine) with singer-songwriter Brandon Mayer.

At the end of 2015 Mataji was interviewed by UK Radio Podcast ‘Across the Pond’ hosted by Les Young
and musician Bobby Joe Holman. Throughout 2016 Mataji was invited to perform a variety of paid gigs in addition to a Fall appearance at the Hotel Cafe alongside Amy Blaschke, Marjorie Fair and the Hidden Powers. In the Fall of 2016 she recorded her first livestream concert at the ‘Studio Venue’ in Burbank, CA, closing out the year lending her vocals to Omnia Dance Company’s short film ‘This is for the People’ with Van Adams vocalist Yvette Adams and singer/actress Rochelle Anderson.

At the start of 2017 she entered her song SUNRISE into NPR's Tiny Desk Concert and played ‘Desert Nights’ at the Standard Hotel in West Hollywood with the band Luci; ‘Desert Nights’ is a popular singer songwriter showcase hosted by KCRW DJ and the night’s host, Valida Carroll. Mataji is set to play an all female showcase called Beats by Her at The House of Blues Anaheim in March. She’s becoming a regular fixture at the Bar 20/Grafton Hotel on Sunset Blvd hosted by the Bar and Restaurant Society. In
2017 Mataji is hoping to put her songwriting experience to the test and collaborate and write for other artists, Television and Film, as well record her second album, which is a message of hope inspired by current events and social issues happening in America and around the world.
