The circle pit opened almost immediately as local h******e fans threw themselves into the chaos. One dude in a banana costume was dead centre, windmilling helicopter arms and dragging more people into the pit with him. Lockjaw’s set was relentless—high-energy h******e with plenty of mic-sharing, giving the crowd a chance to unleash their own screams and growls. It was the perfect way to start the night. Next up, Skurge kept the momentum rolling. Windmills were flying, bodies were bouncing off the front of the stage, and dancers carved out their own space in the pit. The venue was filling fast, and the energy in the room kept climbing. Then came Body Prison. Armed with crushing breakdowns and savage vocals, they pushed the crowd right to the edge. Just when it felt like things couldn't get any more chaotic, the guitarist called for a giant cardboard box to be thrown into the pit. The crowd descended on it like a pack of starving animals, tearing it apart to reveal a stash of foam swords. Instantly, the pit transformed into a medieval battlefield. Foam blades flew in every direction as fans clashed and laughed through the carnage. By the time the set ended, the crowd was completely fired up and more than ready for Dregg! The time had finally come for the headliners. Dregg stormed the stage with the kind of explosive energy fans have come to expect, delivering their signature blend of funky h******e and rap. With a new drummer behind the kit, the band launched straight into their set as the room packed in tight from wall to wall. Frontman Christopher wasted no time diving into the crowd, calling for phone flashes to light up the pit as he rapped from within the chaos. Tight guitar work, thunderous bass, and relentless energy kept the momentum high, though with every song the band demanded even more from the crowd. By the time they ripped into Butterscotch Biscuits, the audience was completely in the palm of their hands, screaming every word of the iconic chorus: “All these metalcore singers live at home with their parents.” It was easily one of the biggest moments of the night. Before launching into the final song, Christopher made one last plea for the crowd to leave it all on the floor—and they delivered. Fans flooded the stage, stage divers launched themselves into the sea of bodies below, and crowd surfers appeared from every direction. In one particularly memorable moment, a girl lost her footing and crashed straight into the bass drum mid-song before disappearing into the crowd and hitting the floor. It looked brutal. Thankfully, I checked in with her afterwards, and while she'll almost certainly be feeling it tomorrow, she was all smiles and insisted the spectacular wipeout was “100% worth it.” Pure chaos. Exactly how a Dregg headline set should be.
