About Alanna and Alicia

Twin sisters Alanna and Alicia have charmed audiences from Fairbridge to the National Folk Festivals with their original folky/ jazz/ roots songs, their sweet harmonies, and onstage warmth, wit and fun.
Both are gifted songwriters who have won awards at national level, including Best New Talent at Port Fairy Folk Festival earlier in their career.
Their lyrics, equal parts heart and humour, sparkle with an original, intimate voice.
They launched their beautiful, new fifth album, ‘Heart Song Listen' at the Maldon Folk Festival in November, 2023. They have four other albums, 'Songs I'm Singing with Me' 2017, ‘Twinlines’ 2013, ‘Two in a Book’‚ 2010 and ‘Funny She’s So Much Like Me’‚ 2006.
Their fine band features talented musicians, Damien Neil (guitar), Silas Palmer, (piano, violin) and Sarah Busuttil, violin and snare.
They have played at many festivals including the National, Port Fairy, Blue Mountains, Fairbridge, Maldon, Dorrigo, Illawarra, Bendigo Blues and Roots, Cygnet, Brunswick, Kangaroo Valley, Woodford, Yackandandah, Cobargo and Newstead Live, as well as folk clubs such as Fairlight Folk, the Merry Muse, Hornsby Ku-ring –gai, Bendigo, the Shack and the Troubadour, Woy Woy..
In 2015 they went to the US where they were invited to play at the Folk Alliance International Conference in Kansas City. They played an official showcase and several other showcases, and also visited Nashville and Austin, Texas.
On the new album, 'Heart Song Listen,' Alanna and Alicia explore a wide range of personal and global issues, including their grandmother’s battle with dementia, the emotional experience of miscarriage, life in lockdown, the effects of global warming and sea level rise, contrasting with playful, upbeat tune, The Teetotaller, vibrant travel song, Everybody Dances in New Orleans and the whimsical title waltz, Heart Song Listen. In one set, Alanna and Alicia can make you laugh or shed a tear.
The album was recorded and produced at Rolling Stock Recording Rooms in Collingwood, Melbourne with the brilliant Myles Mumford.

‘In concert they are entertaining and lively characters with an unpredictable, unscripted natural humour inspired by close observations and wry story telling. They are brimming with talent, a free spirit and endearing charm’. Jamie McKew, Director Port Fairy (1977 - 2015).
