10,000 Light Years

10,000 Light Years began in December of 2012. Bassist Tony Jeswald had been working on a slew of new songs with the intent reforming his previous band, Today's My Super Spaceout Day, and recording a new album. The Spaceout Day reformation never occurred, but Tony was determined to record the songs he had written. Todd Gutner, drummer with Trilobytes, Suzanna & The Hollywoods, and touring drummer for the J.Davis Trio, had known Tony for some time, and the two of them had discussed trying to put something together at some point. With a few rough sketches of songs in hand, Tony reached out to him in December to see what they could come up with. After a few sessions, they liked what they heard and decided to put together a new band. Ian Swope, a guitarist who had been playing in Chicago's rock scene for many years, was referred to Tony by a mutual friend. The three met at Todd's rehearsal space and rehearsed, which all three decided was a great success. Over the next five months, they wrote a huge number of songs. By late May, they had polished ten songs and booked studio time with Mike Hagler at Kingsize Sound Lab. The album, "Haunted House," was released on June 20th, 2013.
