About David Grohl

A very well-rounded musician, Dave Grohl was the drummer for Nirvana and is the charismatic frontman of Foo Fighters. He sat in on drums for Queens of the Stone Age's Songs for the Deaf album, and had an interesting side project called Probot recently as well.

Probot showcased several singers from bands Dave grew up listening to, and a few friends helped out here and there with the music. Dave played the majority of the instruments on the album, music he wrote trying to emulate the style of the singers' old bands, sending out the nearly-done tracks to some of his early idols with a note stating "Send back with vocals."

As a drummer, Dave is also present on the entire Nine Inch Nails record With Teeth and on several other albums from different artists. E.g. in 2003, he sat on drums of the Killing Joke album. He also features as the devil in the Tenacious D video for Tribute and in the movie The Pick of Destiny. Grohl also played drums for their debut album. Grohl is featured as a guest drummer for Queens of the Stone Age and appears on track "Bad Boyfriend" from the new Garbage album.

A rare cassette album entitled Pocketwatch was released by Grohl under the pseudonymn of "Late!" . The cassette consists of 10 songs of which includes Friend of a Friend, Color Pictures of a Marigold, Winnebago and Just Another Story About Skeeter Thompson. These songs have all made re-appearances as B-Sides on Nirvana and Foo Fighters singles.

When Grohl was the drummer of Nirvana, the band used Marigold as a B-Side track back in 1993. This is his sole writing credit for Nirvana, though he also wrote the riff for Scentless Apprentice.
