About Dissolve
There are two bands called Dissolve:
one is a independent, alternative atmospheric noise band featuring Roy Montgomery,
and the other is a hardcore band from Poughkeepsie, New York, United States. Now into their second decade, Dissolve has shown an undeniable persistence in the underground music scene. Never straying from the overwhelming call to creativity, Dissolve continues to develop their unique sound and to collect fans from all over. With music described as "sickening" and "brutal," Dissolve has made a name for themselves by making music from within, never concerning themselves with fitting in, following trends, or trying to sound like other bands. Dissolve's approach to making music has always been firmly planted in mixing the eclectic backgrounds and diverse musical talents of their members, writing and playing what they think sounds good. This independence has resulted in a sound that is unique to the metal and hardcore scene, and even then, one is hard-pressed to pigeon-hole their style of music into a particular category. Honestly, the only label that would truly apply to Dissolve is heavy. Better yet, f*..%ing heavy! For the better part of 10 years they gave it their all to make it in music, resulting finally in a well-deserved contract with MIA records back in 2000. This put them on a label with bands like Candiria, Darkest Hour, and Disassociate. An album was recorded, mixed and mastered and artwork was created, but a release just was not in the cards. The owner of the label decided to fold the operation just as Dissolves album was to be released. Unfazed by this setback the band trudged on for a year and a half in support of their never-released album, entitled Caveman of the Future, hoping that someone would pick them up and put out the album. As fate would have it, this never happened. Day jobs, distance, and side projects began to take precedence resulting in a hiatus from touring for Dissolve. While the band never broke up, gigs tailed off and performing stopped. The band went into a kind of hibernation. Incredibly, in defiance of the implications of the hiatus they took -- a death knell for most other bands -- Dissolve sustained. This persistence can not only be attributed to the friendships within the band, but more impressively, to the support of its fans -- an incredible fan-base that is second to none. Their dedication is furious, and their commitment unwavering, proven by the numerous emails enthusiastically sent in response to the two shows that a newly reunited Dissolve performed; one in November of 2004 and one in August 2005. The fans are what truly make the band and that does not go unnoticed by any member. All the members are hoping to continue to perform live shows and are looking into a proper release of Caveman of the Future.
Word is Dissolve will finally release the long awaited and overdue album "Caveman of the Future" in 2008 on Trip Machine Laboratories label out of NY. Be on the lookout.
