Duh

DUH is a collective of like-minded creatives from exceedingly eclectic backgrounds who have gathered to produce a steady stream of ecstatic sounds. DUH’s music is the result of mixing highlife grooves, and gamelan influenced interlocking rhythms with Karnatak melisma and heavy Prog Rock riffs. Taylor Burton has forged his idiosyncratic approach to guitar through his experiences studying musical practices in South India and Indonesia as well as through his compositional studies with Anthony Braxton and Alvin Lucier. Guitarist and singer Yaman Palak, a former student of avant guitarist Fred Frith, adds dreamy, melodic guitar arcs and subtle rhythmic punctuations, bringing his unique voice as a composer and songwriter to the mix. Mauricio Escamilla, a creative sound designer and audio engineer, blends his drumming technique across a wide range of musical styles, creating a solid foundation for DUH’s sonic architecture. Wolfgang Daniel defines his creative practice as equal parts filmmaker and musician. He honed his technique on both bass and guitar through an extensive career of recording and touring with various ensembles throughout Europe and Indonesia. Classically trained singer, actress, and performer Stefa Marín, draws from her influences of jazz and theatre to bring emphatic vocals, helping to elevate and complete the band's sound.
