About The Gramophone Jass Band

Reinventing classics of the prohibition speakeasies, The Gramophone Jass Band are set to entertain. After two years of hosting jazz nights in Edinburgh under various names, the remaining gentlemen from TJ Muller and the Dixie Six were joined by Ollie ‘Boy’ Marge, who agreed to take over guitar and vocal duties in January. After the spectre of university had finally passed in May, The Gramophone Jass Band officially started work. Having successfully converted a 17-seater minibus into a functioning 6-bed campervan, the five men have packed up their lives and will be touring for the next year. The band have just completed a successful run at several UK summer festivals including Wickerman, Kelburn Garden Party, Edinburgh Jazz Festival, Shetland Blues Festival and Lockerbie Jazz Festival. During the 2013 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, they ran their own late-night 1920s speakeasy and played shows for the BBC, NoFitState Circus and the British Arts Council. Come October, the double bass, piano, guitars, clarinets, saxophones, trumpets and trombones will be squeezed into the converted campervan as the lads hop on a year-long mission to see all they can see and play to as many people as possible. Touring the streets and clubs of Europe, expect to see The Gramophone Jass Band in a venue near you, very soon. "Clever and fun reinventions of traditional classics." - Broadway Baby, ****
