About Lyman Ellerman Music
Driven by the power of song, Lyman Ellerman began playing music at the young age of 15.
After learning a few chords, Ellerman and his guitar were inseparable - thus paving the way for
a 14+ year career in the music industry as a touring and recording artist. Influenced by great
songwriters such as Guy Clark, Billy Joe Shaver, Townes VanZant, Steve Earle, Bob Dylan,
Willie Nelson, Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, and many others, Lyman Ellerman began adding
his name to the list of unforgettable songwriters at the age of 18. Since then, he has gone on
to write music for seven albums and perform with other prolific songwriters such as George
McCorkle (The Marshall Tucker Band), Buddy Brock, Will Nance, Kevin Denney, Michael
Huffman, Arlos Smith, and Ward Davis, among others.
Ellerman learned the craft of performing by playing with numerous bands in and around the
midwest, before taking a break from the industry to raise a family. He didn’t stay gone long
before he returned to the industry in 2000 with a catalog of original songs. Ellerman partnered
with Harold Cowart, longtime bassist for the Bee Gee’s, who agreed to produce his record
Workin' on Gettin’ There. After promoting the album with an extensive tour through Louisiana,
Mississippi, Missouri, and Illinois, Ellerman headed back to the studio to produce a second
album that strayed from contemporary productions and helped shape the live raw sound he is
known for today.
In the midst of touring and recording, Ellerman spent much of his time in Nashville where he
landed two publishing contracts as a songwriter. Since then he has developed his music
career with four more albums, several independent cuts, numerous demo recordings, song
placement in a movie, and regular touring and performing.
