About The Baby Shakers

The Baby Shakers formed in the early summer of 1999 in ACT. Starting up the line-up was Andi on bass, Michelle on drums and Caz on vocals. They spent that year jamming and writing songs together at Andi's abode until finally they came into full formation in 2002 with the entrance of sisters and guitarists Kath and Laura. The girls drew their influences from a variety of musical interests varying from grunge/Indy, Riot Girrl to metal and punk and performed in the local music circuit. CANBERRA:They played regularly at the ANU Bar, The Gypsy Bar, Rockape, Pot Belly, Woden Youth Centre, Civic Youth Centre and ACT Punks Picnics. They also performed at ACT IndyFest 2002 & Metal For The Brain, 2XXfm Community Fest, lawns at the ACT Art Gallery and Rockapes yearly show 'Christmassacre' X 2. SYDNEY: 2001 Hardcore Superbowl - Green Square Hotel . Sydney shows at the Lansdowne Hotel, Erskinville Hotel and Newtown Community Town Hall. Some of the bands they were proud to support were: Bra-Code, Bulldog Spirit, Day Of Contempt, Mindsnare,The Blurters, 3Found Dead, World War 24, The Bigots, PallBearers, The Hated, The Butterfly Effect. Their first recording was at Tony Barringtons Studio in Quenbeyan where a demo tape was produced and copies were made and quickly snapped up. D.I.Y patches and stickers were also made by Kath - Guitarist. The girls were also invited onto 3 compilations. 2 on ' The New Breed' -Snapshot Records and 'Scooter' (2001). In 2002 they recorded a 5 track independent album called 'Death Rattle 'n Roll' recorded and mixed at Velvet Sound Studios (by Adrian Grigorieff) and mastered at Studio 301 by (Oscar Gaona). The Baby Shakers had over 18 original songs under their belt however they unfortunatley didn't get a chance to record the other 12 songs before they disbanded in 2004. You can still grab yourself a copy of their E.P. 'Death Rattle N Roll' around the traps for e.g. Landspeed Records Civic ACT, Resist Records - Newtown Sydney and Missing Link - Melbourne.
