About Zack Freitas
Zack Freitas is a perfect storm of heartfelt songwriting and a powerful voice to back up his lyrical intensity. There’s a depth to his music that goes further than your average artist, deep below the emotional waterline to a place where beauty is matched equally with pain. For a Millennial in his mid twenties, his songs sound as though they come from the poisoned well of an old soul.
"Zack Freitas rock and roll stylings can be energetic with heavy guitar riffs and in an instant can switch to a ballad with warm, heartfelt lyrics. A major part of his path to playing music comes from the untimely passing of his cousin; Freitas considers his career a literal life saver. He's laid down two full-length studio albums, frequently tours California, and recently went to Europe. His latest release Desolation Animals is a dreamy journey of sound that swings between pop, rock and psychedelic sounds as if he's several musicians living in the same body.”- Monterey County Weekly
Zack Freitas was born in Hollister, CA June 5th, 1992. He started playing bass guitar at 13, and then started writing his own music on acoustic guitar at 18.
By 22 he formed his own band, Kizmet and released two records, “Death is a Blessing” dedicated to his cousin Johnny. And, “Friend of the Animals” in tribute to Saint Francis.
Kizmet disbanded after the release of the second record, leaving Zack with a deeper desire to pursue his own solo career.
In October 2016 Zack released his debut solo record “Blow off the Steam”, and immediately after his first solo record, he started recording his sophomore album, “Desolation Animals” (10/28/17).
Zack continues to perform frequently in the Monterey Bay & San Benito County with his new band “Zack Freitas & The Hired Guns”.
