About Dahl Haus

DAHL HAUS is "spacey art-pop songs as written by a wicked pen, sung by leather lungs, and played by beasts. What's not to love?"
~ Jesse Krakow, WFMU radio

Dahl Haus weaves dreamy art pop and angsty indie rock with electronic noise, distortion, and the occasional cult film soundbite to create a moody, musical soundscape dripping with drama and crackling with kinetic energy. Frontwoman and songwriter Blaise Dahl has worked with The Alarm’s Mike Peters, Labelle’s Nona Hendryx; been a back-up vocalist for indie college radio favorites, A Big Yes and a small no; sang experimental chamber rock with the Brooklyn Philharmonic, composer/bassist Jesse Krakow (Shudder To Think, Dot Wiggin Band) and drummer Eric Slick (Dr. Dog); played bass and sang backups for the Jennie Vee band, opening for Manic Street Preachers 30th Anniversary tour, as well as appeared in Jennie's Echo and the Bunnymen 'Lips Like Sugar' cover video (styled by Courtney Love and featured in Nylon Magazine); and was recently a featured singer in the Losers Lounge's Tribute to the Brill Building Songwriters at Joe's Pub. The diversity of her experience shows in her evocative songwriting, powerful vocals, hypnotic stage presence, and her keen ability to attract equally strong musicians. What started as a musical collective of rotating players, Dahl Haus found its perfect mix when the current line-up made their official CMJ debut in October 2014, with Dahl on vocals, keys & rhythm guitar, lead guitarist Daniel Kasshu (frontman of his own band Dialogue From a Silent Film, in which Dahl returns the favor by supporting him on bass & backup vocals) and Dan Burdman (an in-demand NYC session player and TGX founding member) on drums. Now celebrating a year as a solid musical lineup, Dahl Haus is carving out studio time to record their debut EP, "Welcome to the Dahl Haus,"
with producer & Psychic TV guiarist Jeffrey Berner at Studio G Brooklyn.
Dahl Haus' lyrics often reveal a strong social conscience which goes hand-in-hand with how Blaise spends her free time. At 15, she served on MTV's A Thin Line anti-bullying panel and she's since extended that agenda as part of the network's Look Different pro-social campaign (http://www.lookdifferent.org) where she is honored to be one of only 2 musicians (along with Jack Antonoff of Bleachers) serving on the Good Look panel, giving a voice to bias issues.
