About Charlie Oxford

It all began in Dallas, TX where current Nashville resident Charlie Oxford started off at the early age of 12 in a guitar shop (coincidentally named Charley’s) where Stevie Ray Vaughn used to hang out at. That first guitar would allow him one day to channel his own version of modern-soulful pop with timeless echoes of the past. With his self-titled debut album released on September 25, 2015, Charlie unveiled a sonic landscape that reflected his unique blend of influences, each track a testament to his love for rich, emotive storytelling and infectious melodies. The album boasted A-list cameos, including the renowned Horn Heads, whose work has graced albums by music legends like Prince, Chaka Khan, and Tower of Power. This album would set him up to play with artists like Michael Franti, Sister Hazel, Ron Pope and many more on stages like the 9:30 Club in D.C., The Roxy in L.A., and Irving Plaza in NYC.
Oxford’s next project, The Reflections EP, released in early 2016, showcased a 4 pack of acoustic-based ballads to high-energy anthems. His single, "Call Me," delved into themes of support and friendship, drawing inspiration from personal experiences and real-life struggles. Premiered by The Huffington Post, the track resonated with audiences, earning praise for its heartfelt lyrics and soulful delivery.
During the challenging times of the pandemic, Charlie continued to hone his craft, self-producing a series of singles and cover songs that resonated with audiences craving connection and solace. Through these releases, Charlie's hard work set him up for a slew of new songs that would become his upcoming album, Childish Nostalgia.
In 2024, Charlie turned to Kickstarter, inviting fans to join him on this project. Through the power of crowdfunding, Charlie's vision came to life, as backers rallied behind his creative vision, eager to be a part of something truly special. Drawing inspiration from the rhythmic finesse of Phil Collins and the soulful depths of Steve Winwood, tracks like “Miss Your Nights” and “Don’t Runaway” highlight Charlie’s love of the 1980’s immediately bringing back images of old John Hughes movies. This album is meant for a road trip down memory lane with all four windows rolled down.
Charlie says, “This album is a nod to my childhood blaring Collins’ No Jacket Required and Winwood’s “Higher Love” ad nauseum in my dad’s old blue Buick on the way to school screaming “Sussudio” at the top of my lungs. I’m just trying to make my family proud on this one.” With each note and lyric, Charlie Oxford continues to redefine the boundaries of modern-nostalgic pop, leaving an indelible mark on the musical landscape and inspiring listeners around the world to embrace the magic of music.
Childish Nostalgia releases later in 2024. Be on the lookout for Charlie on tour in a city near you soon.
