About Violent Minds

VIOLENT MINDS started out in the Spring of 2001 as a band called Fatal Blow. Zach had been writing songs for a new band because Shark Attack was in the process of self-destructing and he had some great song ideas. Originally Fatal Blow was to have Zach on guitar, Thousand Dollar (aka Brian Long) on vocals, Nate Helm on drums, and myself (Matt Summers) on bass. If this lineup had worked out, Fatal Blow might have been the greatest and most retarded band that this world has ever seen...but for some reason or other the plug got pulled on Fatal Blow and we decided to do a new band called The Noise, with me on vocals, Zach on guitar, Grubadub on bass and Nate on drums. We recorded 6 songs as The Noise (Know it All, I Don’t Care, Suburban Noise, Bloodsucker, Fatal Blow, and Face the Noise) but it never got finished. First Nate moved to MA then Zach moved to Toronto, which pretty much left The Noise in limbo. After awhile, Zach decided that the songs were too good to waste so in the winter of 2003, he arranged to re-record them with a steady line up. He recruited Ben Cook, and Matt Delong, wrote more songs, and put together and recorded the VIOLENT MINDS 7" in a matter of hours. A few months later, with a steady line up secured, VIOLENT MINDS wrote and recorded a second 7" entitled "Riot" (released on PARTS UNKNOWN RECORDS ) . Both of these great 7"s are available in the ordering section. VIOLENT MINDS are currently recording for a 10 song 12" EP which will be released on MY WAR RECORDS this Fall!! You gotta have a Violent Mind…or you’ll get left behind!
