About Cloth

Recently named one of Huw Stephens’ BBC Music Introducing ‘Tips for 2019’ and delivering angular alt-rock cut through with deep electronic grooves, Cloth are the Glasgow-based trio comprising of twins Rachael and Paul Swinton and Clare Gallacher.
After forming in 2016, the band undertook a lengthy period of writing, rehearsing and, latterly, recording at revered studio Chem 19. Within 2 weeks of uploading their first track to YouTube in April 2018 the band were signed by acclaimed independent label Last Night From Glasgow. ‘Demo Love’ was released officially on the label in June 2018, garnering plaudits and radio airplay from, among others, Tom Robinson of BBC 6 Music (naming the track one of his records of the week), Steve Lamacq, and Podcart (“one of the best songs to come out of Scotland this year").
Second single 'Tripp' was released in August 2018 to critical acclaim, earning 'Track of the Week' on BBC Rapal and being voted 'Fresh Fave' on Tom Robinson's Fresh On The Net blog, while the accompanying remix by enigmatic Glasgow producer, Wuh Oh, was immediately picked up by Vic Galloway on his BBC Radio Scotland show.
In November, after performing a BBC Music Introducing session for new music champion Vic Galloway on BBC Radio Scotland, the band released their final single of 2018, ‘Old Bear’, and were invited to open for the Mercury Prize-nominated C Duncan in Glasgow. BBC Radio 6 Music’s Tom Robinson declared the single ‘Understated, poised, immaculately written, performed and produced… (it) marks a new highpoint from an already exceptional band.’
After performing live in session for Tom Robinson on BBC Radio 6 Music in February, Cloth made their London debut, playing to a sold-out audience at East London mainstay, The Sebright Arms. Performing at this year’s The Great Escape Festival, Long Division Festival, and Latitude Festival as well as two back-to-back hometown headline shows in May, Cloth will release their widely-anticipated debut album via Last Night From Glasgow in late 2019.
