Lonesome Still

Lonesome Still shows feature blazing-fast traditional Appalachian tunes, powerful original songs, and covers drawn from a diverse catalog, all delivered with the group’s signature harmonies and playfulness. The five members are deeply rooted in the Bay Area’s bluegrass and old-time jam scenes, and bring that sensibility to the stage. “It feels more natural to us to share the duty of leading songs” says Ian Kelmartin (bass/guitar), “and it’s really important to us to get the audience engaged.” Mandolinist Nat Hendel agrees, adding “we’re here to have fun, and I think that attitude’s contagious.”
Lonesome Still’s strength is the versatility of its members. All are vocalists and multi-instrumentalists, and the group counts three songwriters among them. The band shape-shifts over the course of an evening, bringing the audience into the fold and creating an experience more like sitting with friends in a living room or around a fire than a traditional concert.
