The group, consisting of vocalist/keyboardist Danielle Shaver and vocalist/guitarist/drummer Benjamin Smith, originated just several weeks prior to writing and production began on the EP. Smith says, "Dani and I have known each other for many years, and once we thought of the idea for the group, we took it and ran with it." Writing, rehearsing, and performing fit nicely into their daily schedules, as the two are a couple. "We are already around each other often, so its very easy to schedule practice," says Danielle. While all the bases for the tracks were written by Smith, he says that there is no way the songs would be the same without all of the contribution his partner gave. "She is so knowledgeable with creating melodies and harmonies." The CD was released on Saturday, May 18th, 2013 in Canton, OH accompanying a live performance at Muggswigz Coffee & Tea Co. opening for Alliance, OH native Dustin Brown and his solo album release. The Lion Summer said, regarding the release of the EP and the subsequent show, "This is a beautiful beginning to a new chapter in our lives. We are blessed for the opportunities that we have been given and thankful for them and those to come."
