Carol Cleveland Sings

Carol Cleveland Sings is the audio/visual art pop project of Thomas Hughes and Gretchen Lohse. With a focus on melodic songcraft, the duo specializes in lush orchestration and dreamy vocal harmonies. For live performances, they are joined by multi-instrumentalist Eric Hartman, creating playful arrangements that span from psychedelia to Tin Pan Alley. These melodic hooks are underpinned by melancholic lyrical themes such as ghosts, anxiety, and other existential dilemmas. In addition to their music, they create musique concrète-inspired video art that deconstructs popular music note-by-note using a wide range of instruments, such as toy pianos and marxophone.
