About It Dies Today
It Dies Today is a metalcore band based in Buffalo, New York. The group's music is a blend of brutal riffs and punishing breakdowns coupled with driving melodies. This mixture has attracted fans of many other musical styles, including metal, hardcore punk and emo.
The band entered the hardcore music scene in August of 2001. The group was formed by lead vocalist Nicholas Brooks, guitarist Chris Cappelli and then guitarist Steve Lemke.
Steve Lemke soon moved onto bass and guitarist Mike Hatalak joined to complete the line up. It Dies Today began to refine and structure its sound into a sort of brutal lullaby. The group signed with Trustkill Records, home to metalcore heavyweights such as Throwdown, Eighteen Visions, Bleeding Through and more.
The popularity of the Forever Scorned EP led to them touring the U.S. with Between the Buried and Me and Alexisonfire.
In the fall of 2004, It Dies Today released its debut full-length The Caitiff Choir. The title and lyrics make several allusions to Dante's The Divine Comedy. The album explores the theme of moral disintegration of the human mind. Well received by consumers and media, the album sold over 25,000 copies within its first four months. The band soon sold out two national headlining tours with Twelve Tribes, Anterrabae, Trivium and others.
In 2005 Alternative Press named them a "Band to Know" and the group was featured on MTV's Headbanger's Ball.
The group has also toured with Bleeding Through, Walls of Jericho, All That Remains, and Throwdown. Additionally, It Dies Today appeared on the PETA sponsored "Compassion Over Fashion" tour with Most Precious Blood and Remembering Never.
On March 21, 2006, It Dies Today re-released The Caitiff Choir packaged with all new artwork. The CD will have all the original tracks to it as well as re-recorded tracks from their EP Forever Scorned plus their cover of the Depeche Mode song "Enjoy the Silence". It will also be packaged with a bonus DVD which includes their videos for "A Threnody For Modern Romance", "Severed Ties Yield Severed Heads", and "Enjoy The Silence". They also were a part of the 2006 edition of the Warped Tour alongside bands such as Eighteen Visions, Silverstein, and Every Time I Die.
On October 3, 2006, It Dies Today released their new album, Sirens.
On January 17th, 2007 it was announced that frontman/lead vocals Nick Brooks left the band and that Jason Wood would be the new vocalist.
