Carrie Lynn

“I’ve always had melodies stuck in my head, then I finally realized they were just my own songs that I was supposed to write.” So says Carrie Lynn, a singer/songwriter from Gautier, MS a seaside town on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Along the sandy beaches of the Gulf of Mexico and the rolling pastures of her family’s cattle farm in Greene County, she grew up playing and singing bluegrass music with her family. She started piano lessons in the second grade and taught herself how to play the guitar at age 16. She studied music at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, and after graduation, she continued her education as an Entertainment Industry Studies major at Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi. Carrie Lynn began focusing on songwriting when she turned 17 and joined the Mississippi Songwriter’s Alliance, a network of aspiring songwriters. As a favorite on the local music scene, Carrie Lynn has performed at multiple venues along the Mississippi Gulf Coast and has been a featured performer for the past three years at the Mississippi Songwriters’ Festival. She has been a member of the DMI All Stars, a select group of musicians that recently represented the State of Mississippi at the GRAMMY Museum® at L.A. Live, for the past two years. Bluegrass music had a big influence on Carrie Lynn’s sound as a member of her family band, but she has recently begun to write more pop and country songs in order to expand her musical boundaries. Her catalog of 100+ songs about her life experiences and events are written in a way that audiences can relate to. Her favorite artists, Alison Krauss, Drew Holcomb, Dolly Parton and Bonnie Raitt, have heavily influenced her original music. She is currently working on her first EP titled “Outsides & Edges” which is set to be released in spring of 2017. It will include five of her original songs and small watercolor paintings representing each song. Hey I'm Carrie Lynn!
