About Lee Delray Band

A few quotes about Lee Delray… “A guy as talented as this is bound to go places.” International recording artist, Eric Sardinas. ” Very strong player and vocalist.” Bluesleaf recording artist , Johnny Charles “One Bad Mutha.” Slam Allen (James Cotton Band) “Delray Rocks.” King of the New York City Blues, Popa Chubby. “Great voice and songwriting.” Toshi Yanagi, The Jimmy Kimmel Band. ” One of the bright stars of the up and coming Blues musicians.” Dave Fields, Big City Blues magazine. “Not only great music, but a highly entertaining interactive show. A pleasure to deal with a musician like Delray.” Robin Bacote, Robin’s Nest Rhythm & Blues, Linden, NJ After 13 years of touring regionally, paying his dues and building a strong fan base in PA, NJ, and NY, Delray is on the rise on the national blues scene. His latest studio effort “570-BLUES”, set for release in May of 2013, is already receiving national and international airplay. Here is a little backround on Lee… Born in South Florida and raised in N.Y.C., Lee’s earliest influence to be a musician was when his dad took him to see a Pete Seeger Concert on a pier on Staten Island. That day changed his life forever. Delray officially started playing at age 11, but soon gave it up for the drums only to return to guitar at age 14. Lee played with any and every band that would have him through the 80′s with styles ranging from Country, Oldies, and Metal. Until late ’89 when his long time friend and associate, Duke Lee, gave him a Muddy Waters record and told him, “This is where all that stuff you listen to came from.” Early on, Lee was highly influenced by Muddy Waters, Alvin Lee, Jimi Hendrix, Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry, and especially Buddy Holly. His later influences included Albert King, BB King, Freddy King, Albert Collins, and the list goes on. In 1999, Lee decided to put together his first band as a front man. Since then there have been many incarnations of the man and the band. Many a fine player have helped Delray evolve to where he is now as a musician and a bandleader. Lee Delray has been touring regionally since 1999 and has played many festivals and national venues. His original music has been featured on Blues radio stations like WUSR and on “Uncle Petes Blues Party” from WNTI Centenary College N.J.. Lee has played with, opened for, or shared the bill with such artists as … Phil Guy, The Nutmeg Horns, Popa Chubby, Adam Nussbaum (John Schofield), Sean Chambers (Blackfoot), Debby Hastings (Bo Diddley), Margo Lewis (Bo Diddley), Johnny Charles, Slam Allen (James Cotton), Vito Luizzi (Johnny Winter), Eric Sardinas, and Lucky Peterson just to name a few. Delray’s playing style is as expressive as it in your face. It has been said that Delray’s bag runs deep to say the least. You will hear shades of Albert Collins, The Three Kings, and many more. Although Lee pays homage to the past masters, for sure, he does it with his own spin and style. Vocally he is smooth, but yet powerful. Delray is able to go from gut bucket blues to a soulful ballad like turning the pages in a book. Lee Delray's new release "Brand New Man" is on Sirius XM Radio Click to Pick B.B. Kings Bluesville. #7 the Roots Music Report National Blues Rock Charts.
