CARLY JOHNSON: AMERICAN SINGER-SONGWRITER

After receiving her bachelor's degree in music from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia in 2007, Carly returned home to Louisville and started performing as a jazz vocal/guitar duo with critically acclaimed guitarist Craig Wagner. A versatile mainstay in the Louisville music scene, Johnson has had the honor of performing with numerous greats, including Will Oldham/Bonnie Prince Billy, My Morning Jacket, Houndmouth, the Grammy-Award-Winning Louisville Orchestra and Norah Jones. After deep diving into the vast Louisville music scene in various forms, Carly decided to write her own music.



Since launching her own 8-13 piece band, she's performed her original music with the Grammy-Award-Winning Louisville Orchestra and in a plethora of venues across the US and internationally, including Forecastle Music Festival, LA's Hotel Cafe, DC's The Atlantis, Sound City Music Festival in the UK and in the iconic Cavern Club in Liverpool, England...a full circle moment as a dedicated fan of The Beatles.



Fusing her musical education with her love and reverence for rock, soul, and pop music, her self-titled debut solo album “CARLY JOHNSON” is the summation of a dream. A dream filled with soul, jazz, R&B and influences spanning from Sarah Vaughan, Whitney Houston, Joni Mitchell, Etta James and Heart's Ann Wilson. Carly Johnson's long awaited self-titled debut album was released December 4th, 2020 on sonaBlast! Records and her sophomore album is currently underway. Carly also recently threw her acting hat in the ring as a lead in the upcoming independent film “Heart Strings” (2024) and composed original music for the critically acclaimed independent film “You & I” (2024).
