About Kent
Kent (stylized as kent) was a Swedish rock band from Eskilstuna, which in the mid-1990s established itself as one of the most successful groups in Scandinavia. With more than 2.3 million full-length albums sold, Kent has repeatedly given the epithet "Sweden's biggest rock band".
'Kent was formed in 1990 under the name Jones & Giftet, later Sea Angels. The current name has been the band since 1993. The original members were Joakim Berg, Martin Sköld, Markus Mustonen, Sami Sirviö and Thomas Bergqvist. Bergqvist was replaced by Martin Roos in 1992, who left the group in 1995, shortly after the release of his debut album Kent. Kent's first list success came in 1996 in connection with the single "Kräm så nära får ingen gå (so close no one can go)". The same year, guitarist Harri Mänty was recruited as a member of the band until 2006.
Since Kent's second album Really (1996), the band has topped the Swedish top list with all nine subsequent studio albums, of which Vapen & ammunition (2002) with their total 85 weeks has spent the longest time on the list. Kent has also topped the Swedish single list with the songs "Dom andra", "Max 500", "Palace & Main", "Töntarna", "2000" and "Gamla Ullevi". In 2016, the band was inducted into the Swedish Music Hall of Fame.
On March 13, 2016, Kent announced via a music video that 2016 will be their last year together. In the same video, the release of a last full-length album and a compilation album was announced as well as the implementation of a comprehensive farewell tour. The tour culminated in a very final farewell in the form of a farewell show at Tele2 Arena on December 17, 2016.
