I had a wonderful time at KAMIJO’s first U.S. solo show. His performance was incredible, and hearing him live was an unforgettable experience. He sounded amazing, and I really appreciated that he took time to talk with the audience and share stories about his life in Los Angeles, including his dinner and even getting a flat tire. Those little moments made the show feel personal and genuine.
I have been watching videos of KAMIJO’s performances since before he moved to Los Angeles, and many of the shows I watched in Japan felt more theatrical, with elaborate costumes, props, and stage production. Because of that, I did miss seeing some of those theatrical elements. However, I completely understand that this was his first major U.S. show, and bringing a full-scale production to another country is a huge undertaking. I truly appreciate that he came to perform for his American fans, and I hope future U.S. tours continue to grow.
I also brought a friend who knew almost nothing about Japanese culture or Visual Kei. She didn’t understand the lyrics, yet she still said it was a wonderful experience and thoroughly enjoyed the show. I think that says a lot about KAMIJO’s stage presence and ability to connect with people, even if they are experiencing his music for the first time.
As someone who has been following KAMIJO for years, it was heartwarming to see so many younger fans in the audience. It was wonderful to watch teenagers enjoying the music just as much as those of us who have been listening for a long time. It shows that his music continues to reach new generations.
I also really appreciated that KAMIJO allowed the audience to record the concert. Not many artists are that generous, and it meant so much to be able to take home those memories from such an incredible night. Unfortunately, I forgot to hit the record button during one of my favorite songs—lol! I’ll just have to see him again the next time he is in Los Angeles
