THE DIRTY FOLKERS

We came up with the idea of the Dirty Folkers after repeatedly being asked to play an acoustic set at Rebellion. We were very nearly ' The Fork Hunts ' but a quick Facebook poll convinced us that ' The Dirty Folkers ' was the best monicker for what is essentially Vice Squad unplugged. We decided from the start that if we had to play the dreaded acoustic guitars (usually we fill acoustic guitars with concrete and stick a couple of EMGs on to get a better sound) we'd have to do more just play some old Vice Squad songs in a jangly, twee style. First we agreed that we'd give a few classic Motorhead and AC/DC songs a bashing and incorporate some long lost sixties would-be classics into the set to add a bit of humour. Next we agreed that a certain degree of nudity was essential so Wayne ( alias Finbar Folker ) got a wax and polish and a Mankini. Beki became Fanny Folker and Paul became The Reverend Fergal Folker or Father Fergal Folker depending on which denomination he picks. Paul's other characters include Tubby Lumbago, the ' Walrus of Pies.' Django became Franz Von Folker-Wolf AKA Helmut Helmet. After many (2) days practice and Beki being forced to play 'gay' i.e not barre chords, The Dirty folders made their debut on the Acoustic Stage at Rebellion 2011 in Blackpool. Surprisingly we went down a storm and went on to play at The Milton Arms replacement Punk By the Sea gig in Portsmouth in June 2012. This time the set included a version of 'Latex love' on bongos and again the Folkers were lapped up by the crowd. In 2012 we returned to the Acoustic stage at Rebellion in Blackpool and debuted new songs such as ' Whole Lotta Roadie ' and ' Cider Man ' along with more serious stuff like ' You Can't Buy Back the Dead ' and ' Starvation Box '. In December of the same year the Folkers played at the Rebellion Christmas Bash in Birmingham, where we debuted songs from our christmas 2012 Ep including ' Crazy World ' and ' Handsome Punch up ' plus an unusual version of Motorhead's ' Killed By death '. The high (or low ) light of the night was Wayne's tiny leopard print codpiece and permanently erect nipples! See them at your peril. The Dirty Folkers are the acoustic alter-egoes of Punk band VICE SQUAD.
