Scicoustic SciCoustic was founded at the turn of the millenium by the Meintjes brothers Albert (vox & guitar) & Gideon (drums) after their previous project Strange Weather split up. They were joined by Mike Roy on bass and Jaco Loots on percussion. Together they created a unique sound unlike any other, that has today grown into a musical journey that will take you from calm serenity to gut-wrenching emotional highs in a matter of seconds, coming down on you like an african hael storm and then suddenly leaving you hanging out to dry. 2003 saw the release of their debut album Mirrors, featuring number one hits like Oceans Apart, Mirrors, Bolshie Woman and the SciCoustic anthem Assassin. Mirrors was widely received by diverse audiences and is still a favourite amongst many SciCoustic followers. 2006 saw the release of the 2nd album "Come and love us" and once again tracks like Girls, Fifteen ,Everywhere and Face were juming around on the top 10 charts with Dance reaching the nr 1 spot. Scicoustic performes in and around South Africa and tours to the Seychelles, Zimbabwe, Botswana,Mozambique, Croatia, The Netherlands and Nigeria took the band to new hights. The next tour is to Lagos in May 2011 and Seychelles in July 2011.. They recorded a new live album "Chaos in Lagos" on their tour in February to Nigeria and will launch this double disc on their May tour in Lagos..The album has 14 track and will have a B side with live footage of the evening at Bottles on Victoria Island as well as footage of the tour, the country and the people.. Albert spent November of 2011 in Cuba, performing at various venues with great success 2012 saw Albert performing solo allot, experimenting with new sounds and styles and he has pleased audiences around South Africa and surrounding countries. This has led to great new songs for Scicoustic and with the new addition of Greg Georgiades on classical guitar, ukulele, mandolin and east African lute and Wouter Reinecke on bass, the sound has once again exploded into a feast of rhythms and melodies that entertains audiences from all over the world.
